1. Mortal Obligation

Description: Seventeen year old Ree McKenna has three goals: get through high school, convince her crush she is more than his best friend’s little sister, and save money for college. Fate, though, has other plans for her. After the untimely death of her older brother, Ree is haunted by dreadful nightmares and terrifying visions. To make matters worse, Ree has started to suspect that something dangerous is stalking her from the shadows.

A night full of frightening surprises leaves Ree with unsettling news. Gifted by the gods with unusual powers, she must devote herself to a battle that could very well lead to not only her death, but the demise of everyone she knows and loves. After all, Ree is the only mortal standing between the Earth and utter darkness.

Why You Should Read This: In most books you have to wait a few chapters for the action to start, but in Mortal Obligation, Nichole Chase will have you hooked from the first page where the main character is already being stalked by something dark and powerful. Well written and interesting this book is a definite must read.

2. Smokeless Fire

Description: When Ohio born Ari Johnson is transported from her bedroom into the chilling realm of Mount Qaf - home to the terrifying and mercurial Jinn - she learns a truth that rocks her very world. Suddenly her anxiety over college and her heartbreak over failing her broken friend, Charlie, seem like small change compared to the war she now finds herself stuck in the middle of. Her unease isn’t lessened any by the intriguing guardian Jinn called Jai who haunts her every footstep - a Jinn whose loyalty Ari hates to question but must. And despite Ari’s determination to shake off a world of shapeshifters, poltergeists, telepaths and kings, the Jinn have bigger plans for her and they’ll stop at nothing to drag her into the ancient tug of war that’s been smoldering between them for centuries…even if it means forcing her to choose their world by going after those she holds most precious.

Why You Should Read This: This story had me hooked from the beginning. The plot is fresh and original, but the part that really drew me into this novel was the relationship between Ari and Jai. Their interactions are snarky and filled with heat.

3. Ruthless Billionaire, Forbidden Baby

Description: When Tamalyn Haynes agrees to be a bridesmaid, she doesn't realize she will be dancing with the best man--notorious tycoon Fletcher Stanton! Fletcher is relentless in pursuing his desires--and intent on bedding wide-eyed Tammy. But he has one condition: it's to be a temporary romance only. Marriage is not an option. However, their passionate nights together lead to Tammy dropping a bombshell. Unintentionally, Fletcher Stanton's mistress is pregnant with his forbidden baby...

Why You Should Read This: I wasn't all too impressed with the writing in this book, but the relationship between Fletcher and Tammy makes up for it. The connection between them and the snarky interactions are written well. (I have a love for snark)

Kindle Price: $3.25

4. Generational Sins

Description: Sometimes Love Hurts. For years David's abusive father taught him that women were merely toys designed to be discarded after use. What will happen when he meets Katlyn, a stunning submissive who is his intellectual equal, emotional savior, and so much more than a plaything? Told in two parallel time lines, we witness the devastating effects of domestic abuse and the slow process of learning to love through the pain.

Why You Should Read This: This is a dark book and hard to read if you can't tolerate BDSM and explicit sexual content, but it's a really good read. It's so interesting to get inside the heads of the two main characters and figure out why they are the way they are. It's really interesting to see the different sexual sides of people, how certain habits are born, and how the environment we live in affects the people we become.

Kindle Price: $0.99

5. Bossy Pants

Description: Tina Fey’s new book Bossypants is short, messy, and impossibly funny (an apt description of the comedian herself). From her humble roots growing up in Pennsylvania to her days doing amateur improv in Chicago to her early sketches on Saturday Night Live, Fey gives us a fascinating glimpse behind the curtain of modern comedy with equal doses of wit, candor, and self-deprecation.

Why You Should Read This: This book it quite literally hilarious. I could not stop laughing. People looked at me funny. Tiny has her hand in everything and it's amusing to read how she pushes the envelope with certain things. I love this woman. I have a huge girl crush on her. Just read the damn book and you'll see why! ;)

Kindle Price: $12.99

6. Beautiful Disaster

Description: The new Abby Abernathy is a good girl. She doesn't drink or swear, and she has the appropriate percentage of cardigans in her wardrobe. Abby believes she has enough distance between her and the darkness of her past, but when she arrives at college with her best friend America, her path to a new beginning is quickly challenged by Eastern University's Walking One-Night Stand. Travis Maddox, lean, cut, and covered in tattoos, is exactly what Abby needs--and wants--to avoid. He spends his nights winning money in a floating fight ring, and his days as the charming college co-ed. Intrigued by Abby's resistance to his charms, Travis tricks her into his daily life with a simple bet. If he loses, he must remain abstinent for a month. If Abby loses, she must live in Travis' apartment for the same amount of time. Either way, Travis has no idea that he has met his match.

Why You Should Read This: This book is amazing. I'm not sure where to start, but the push and pull relationship between these two characters is so raw and volatile, that I can literally feel their emotions bouncing off the page. I'm not sure I can pin-point why I love this book so much, but it kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time. I cried with these characters, got angry with them and almost put the Kindle in the freezer, when I got anxious. It's just all so intense and it's right there. I haven't loved a book this way in a long time.
