The Road to Hell
The Road to Hell (Heaven Falls #1)
by Christopher C. Starr
Genre: Epic Fantasy/ Religious Fiction
Age category: Adult

Blurb:
My name is Lucifer and I was first…

…and, yes, I am that Lucifer. Fall from Heaven, Prince of Darkness, ruler of Hell, Satan, the Devil, the Adversary, and a thousand other names.

Forget what you think you know. You’ve never heard this story before—not from me. Others have tried. None of them got it right.

See, I don’t want you.
I’ve never wanted you.
I want Him.

Everyone else is just in the way.

Top Ten Ways to Combat Writer’s Block

I used to think writer’s block wasn’t a thing, you know? That it was some excuse writers made so they didn’t or wouldn’t finish the projects in front on them. My experience with writer’s block was that it was a self-inflicted wound: it was usually the product of me not being willing to write the story the way it needed to be written. It was me not willing to be honest about what needed to be said.

I experienced my first real bout of writer’s block about 2 years ago and it genuinely lasted for 2 years. I couldn’t hear anything or see anything. Doubt became my constant companion and, though I’d written 2 books, I didn’t believe I could write the third. Didn’t believe I was talented enough. The truth is I wasn’t being honest with me and with the story. The way I wanted book 3 in my series to “feel” was very different than what the story needed me to do and that impasse froze me.

I’m writing again now and the list below are strategies I used to get through my block.

Top Ten Reasons To Watch The Originals...

As some of you may or may not know, one of my favorite shows on TV right now is The Originals. It's the new spinoff of The Vampire Diaries. The Originals airs Tuesday nights at 8pm on The CW and is quite literally one of the best knew shows on TV.

Premise:

Family is power. The Original Vampire family swore it to each other a thousand years ago. They pledged to remain together, always and forever. Now, centuries have passed, and the bonds of family are broken. Time, tragedy and hunger for power have torn the Original Family apart.

Corina's Top Ten Books I'm Thankful For...

Everyone has a list of favorite books. But since it's that time of year where we tell each other what we're all thankful for it's only fitting to make a list of the top ten books I'm thankful for. Each book on this list, while it might or might not make my favorites list, has done something to make me thankful that I read it.

10. I Hope They Serve Beer In Hell - This book has to be the funniest thing I've ever read. I don't even know if it's possible to explain how hard I laughed while reading this book. Mind you it is definitely not for the faint of heart. There's swearing, derogatory commentary about women and lots and lots of sex. If you don't want to read a bunch of short, but true stories about sexual exploits with all kinds of women and crazy drinking with a close knit group of college friends then this probably isn't for you. But I will forever be thankful for reading it. After reading all about Tucker Max I can safely say I'm no longer ashamed of things I did when I was a teenager. I'd definitely recommend I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell to anyone looking for a good laugh.

9. A Long Way Gone: Memoirs of a Boy Soldier - This is the very first memoir I ever read. It was brutal, poignant, and filled with the kind of personal strength that I've never seen before. The author is a genuinely down to earth and nice guy and after everything he's been through, well I have so much respect for how well adjusted he is. He took the horrible things that happened to him when he was a child and made something good come from it. He's truly come so far and his story is inspiring. It showed me what kinds of true strength is inside of every person. I'd highly recommend this book to readers 12 and over.

8. In the Forests of the Night (Den of Shadows #1) - As most of you probably know Amelia Atwater Rhodes is one of my all time favorite authors. I'm thankful for this particular book because it was the first book I ever read that wasn't assigned in a classroom. The first one I ever read, just because. I finished it in a few hours and fell madly in love with reading. I think within a week I had read everyone of Amelia books that were out at the time and when I was finished with those I devoured a ton more YA paranormal romance stories. My love for vampires and witches has been around since I was twelve and I first saw Buffy the Vampire Slayer. But I digress. This is the book that made me love reading and for that I will always have a place in my heart for this book. I'd absolutely recommend it and any of her other books to lovers of the YA Paranormal genre.

Blog Post: Top Ten Things Every Indie Author Should Know

1. Have a Website

I cannot stress this enough. I've been blogging for close to a year now (not very long in the grand scheme of things I know) but in the last few weeks I can't tell you how many authors have asked me to promote their books, but do not have a website. Now I'm not trying to be mean, but when an author doesn't have a website it makes my job so much harder. Plus, I have nowhere to direct people to go when they want to look into you or your book. I know it's hard to get things up and running and it all takes time, but definitely look into putting something up even if it's just a blog with the basics. Two really great blog providers and the most popular are of course Blogger and Wordpress, but I'm sure there are a bunch of others as well. Take the time to do it because it really does make a difference.

2. Add your Book to Goodreads

Taken from the book cover: Annie only ever really loved two men in her life. One broke her heart, the other married her. Four children and fifteen years later, Annie’s marriage is in jeopardy. Money is tight and her husband questions the very foundation of their relationship.

When Annie is unexpectedly given the opportunity to see the young man who broke her heart — a man who is now a megastar in the music industry — Annie is faced with choices. Choices that will determine what is of more value — a second chance at lost love and unfulfilled dreams or commitment, trust, and love built on years of experience.

1. Firefly Lane by Kristin Hannah - I love the interplay of relationships in the story
2. Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Luis Zafron - it has the most unexpected twist in it that I have ever read
3. Sylvia's Lovers by Elizabeth Gaskell - show the tragic results of poor choices
