Release Date: July 15, 2003
Summary:
What happens when the most beautiful girl in the world marries the handsomest prince of all time and he turns out to be...well...a lot less than the man of her dreams?
As a boy, William Goldman claims, he loved to hear his father read the S. Morgenstern classic, The Princess Bride. But as a grown-up he discovered that the boring parts were left out of good old Dad's recitation, and only the "good parts" reached his ears.
Now Goldman does Dad one better. He's reconstructed the "Good Parts Version" to delight wise kids and wide-eyed grownups everywhere.
What's it about? Fencing. Fighting. True Love. Strong Hate. Harsh Revenge. A Few Giants. Lots of Bad Men. Lots of Good Men. Five or Six Beautiful Women. Beasties Monstrous and Gentle. Some Swell Escapes and Captures. Death, Lies, Truth, Miracles, and a Little Sex.
In short, it's about everything.

Why you should read this book: This is the first book that I didn't read until after I saw the movie, mostly because I didn't realize it was a book at first. My Father was the one who introduced me to the movie and then the book and I fell in love with it right away. I love Wesley and and Buttercup and the fact that this book rolls romance, fantasy, and adventure all in one amazing story. It's one of those feel good stories, like a fairy tale. Plus is funny! You should definitely check it out!

[sic] by Scott Kelly
Age Range: Young Adult
Genre: Mystery, Thriller
Release Date:August 17, 2012
Summary:

One might give their car away, or punch the school bully. Another might change identities or sacrifice their virginity. Anything to keep evolving, to avoid fitting into a label or caring about the junk they own. But their quest for enlightenment has taken a rotten final turn - one of the players has murdered the game's creator, the teen prophet (cult leader?) David Bloom.
Our narrator is being framed for the crime; can he clear his name and discover which of his lifelong friends is the murderer before he takes the fall?

Why you should read this book: I read this book the other day for a book tour and oh my god I fell in love with it. This isn't exactly my typical genre, but it was outstanding and I'm so glad I took the time to read it. The characters are well thought out and absolutely captivating and so is the plot. This story is one of the more original one's I've ever read and I really enjoyed it.

Random Recommendation: Ember
Ember (Death Collectors, Book 1) by Jessica Sorensen
Age Range: Young Adult
Genre: Paranormal, Romance
Release Date:August 29, 2012
Summary:
What if you knew when someone was going to die?
For seventeen-year-old Ember, life is death. With a simple touch, she knows when someone will die. It’s her curse and the reason she secludes herself from the world. The only person who knows her secret is her best friend Raven.
Then she meets Asher Morgan. He’s gorgeous, mysterious, and is the only person Ember can't sense death from. So when he pushes into her life, she doesn’t mind.
But when unexplained deaths start to haunt her town, Ember starts questioning why she can’t sense Asher's death and what he may be hiding.
Why you should read this book: Jessica Sorensen is an amazing writer. The way she builds up a story truly captivates the reader and engages them. Her characters are real and how she shows us the world through their eyes will definitely have you wanting to know more about them. I finished this book in less than a day I think and true it doesn't usually take me long to read a whole book, but the time frame in which I complete it usually tells you how good that book is. Because no matter how busy I am with work or school I'll usually find a way to sneak in reading it too because I can't seem to put it down. That's exactly how I felt reading this. The story is original and while it does involve some Angel lore there's a completely new spin on it here that I haven't seen before. You should check it out if you haven't already.

Random Recommendation: The New Kid
The New Kid by Temple Mathews
Age Range: Young Adult
Genre: Paranormal, Fantasy, Supernatural
Pages: 288
Release Date: October 5, 2010
Summary:
Will Hunter is used to being the New Kid; Harrisburg High School is his fifth new school in less than three years. By now, he knows not to be fooled by the bright pep rallies, the wholesome jocks, the innocent cheerleaders. He knows the evil lurking underneath. It’s the same evil that took his dad eight years ago: the same evil he battles every day.
Natalie Holand’s life fell apart the night her sister Emily disappeared. No one believes her when she tells them what she saw: yellow and green eyes, glowing beneath the surface of the water in which Emily supposedly drowned. And Emily isn’t the only person to go missing in Harrisburg lately. The town is changing, not for the better, and Natalie doesn’t know why. What she does know is that, whatever’s happening, it’s bad, and the New Kid is right in the middle of it.
Because Will has a secret even bigger than Harrisburg’s, and there’s more to it than even he knows.
This fast-paced, action-packed first novel by veteran Hollywood screenwriter Temple Mathews takes the idea of high school as hell to a whole new level. Will’s story, part wish-fulfillment sci-fi adventure and part iconic hero’s journey with a side of budding romance, will appeal to teen readers of both genders.
Why you should read this book: Typically the books I read are from the perspective of a girl. I'm not sure why that happens, but in almost every book I've ever read the main character is always female. Sure there's usually a main guy too, but it's mostly about her. In The New Kid, it's the opposite. The entire series of books is from Will's perspective and I really enjoyed the change. It's nice to see what goes on inside a guys head. It's nice to see that girls aren't the only one's who struggle with being the strong one or taking care of their friends and family and falling in love. I'm not entirely sure what originally drew me to this series, but whatever it was I'm glad it did. When it first came out it was a Borders exclusive book and you couldn't get it anywhere else and the cover was interesting so I figured I would give it a read and I found that I thoroughly enjoyed it. There's a little bit of everything in this book. Action, adventure, love, friendship, and a truly original storyline. This is the first book in the trilogy. Book two is called The Rising and book three is called The Sword of Armageddon. I haven't read book three yet, but I ordered if from Amazon and am anxiously awaiting it's arrival.

Random Recommendation: Beautiful Disaster
Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire
Age Range: Young Adult/Adult
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Pages: 437
Release Date: May 26, 2011 (original July 27, 2010)
Summary:
The new Abby Abernathy is a good girl. She doesn’t drink or swear, and she has the appropriate percentage of cardigans in her wardrobe. Abby believes she has enough distance between her and the darkness of her past, but when she arrives at college with her best friend, her path to a new beginning is quickly challenged by Eastern University's Walking One-Night Stand.
Travis Maddox, lean, cut, and covered in tattoos, is exactly what Abby needs—and wants—to avoid. He spends his nights winning money in a floating fight ring, and his days as the ultimate college campus charmer. Intrigued by Abby’s resistance to his appeal, Travis tricks her into his daily life with a simple bet. If he loses, he must remain abstinent for a month. If Abby loses, she must live in Travis’s apartment for the same amount of time. Either way, Travis has no idea that he has met his match.
Why you should read this book: I just recently re-read this book and I had forgotten how much I loved it. I adore Abby. She might be one of my favorite female characters in books. She's strong, independent and she can totally hold her own with pretty much anyone. She's seriously badass. It doesn't seem like it at first but once you dive into the story a little further, you see how awesome she is. And Travis, god I love Travis. He's amazing and the way he opens up to Abby, the love they have for each other, the way they are there for one another...I can't even explain how amazing their connection is. I fall in love with this book all over again every time I read it.
