“You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. You're on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the one who'll decide where to go...” - Dr. Seuss, Oh, the Places You'll Go!
Happy Birthday Dr. Suess!
Theodor Seuss Geisel, better known to the world as Dr. Seuss, was born in 1904 on Howard Street in Springfield, Massachusetts and at the time of his death on September 24, 1991, Seuss had written and illustrated 44 children's books.
I don't now about all of you, but I have an unnatural love for Dr. Suess, I always have. When I was a kid my Mother would read his books to me all the time. My favorite was always Green Eggs and Ham. As I got older and started babysitting and doing the whole nanny thing, I was the one reading Dr. Suess books to kids and I still loved them. There's just something about the way that he writes his stories that makes me feel like I can do anything.
His books are part of the reason I wanted to become a writer. I've always wanted to inspire someone with words and the great thing about his books are they're not just for kids. In my senior year of high school towards the end of the year before graduation, my English teacher, Mrs. D'Alessio sat us all down and read Oh The Places You'll Go to us. I have to say as silly as it sounds, at the time it made me feel better about what was to come. To this day it's still one of my favorite books. I even have the limited edition version. Don't judge me.

I used to read "The Foot Book" to my nephew when he was little. :)
