The Next Big Thing Blog Hop!

The Next Big Thing . . . we all like to think we will be. I suppose there can only be so many Twilight’s in a lifetime, but you never know . . . right?

We are blog hopping our way through some new reads. For those who aren't familiar with a blog hop here's how it works. Once you find something on one blog you hop on over to the next blog link for more cool stuff. In this case, the stuff is a wealth of new and exciting books. Some are still being written, some are just being released. Either way, for fiction lovers it’s a treasure and I’d like to thank Lindsey J. Parsons for tagging me to participate.

In this particular hop I answer 10 questions and you get to learn about my current work in progress, some of the characters I’ve come to think of as real, and how I got to the point where I decided I was going to write my nights away instead of sleep. Comments and questions are always welcome!

What is the working title of your book?

And When the Blood Drips

Where did the idea come from for the book?

The idea for this short story came from a mixture of things, but a large part of it is an adaptation of real life issues that I dealt with at one point  in my life.

What genre does your book fall under?

Definitely Young Adult, if I had to choose a specific category I'd say a coming of age story.

Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie rendition?

For the main character, Anabelle I would probably choose Holland Roden and for the male character, Victor, I would probably choose either Jeremy Sumpter, Landon Liboiron or Robbie Amell. Yeah I know that's more than one, but I'm having trouble with deciding who's more Victor-like.

What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book?

When everything in Anabelle's life is crumbling down around her and an overwhelming sense of numbness invades her, seeping in and dulling her very existence, there isn't anything she won't do to feel again.

Will your book be self-published or represented by an agency?

My short story will be self-published for the moment.

How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?

This first draft of this manuscript is still in the works at the moment. So it's estimated time of completion it will most likely be at around 8-to-10 months.

What other books would you compare this story to within your genre?

If I had to categorize it with any stories I would say if fell into the same category as Dina Silver's One Pink Line and Finding Mia by Rachel K. Burke.

Who or What inspired you to write this book?

I've always enjoyed writing. I'm not sure what it was that sparked this particular short story. I might have been cleaning out some old things from high school one day and I was on one of my cleaning binges and saw something that reminded me of a particular time I wasn't in the best place in my life and from there the idea sort of sparked and then developed over time.

What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest?

This isn't your ordinary everything works out perfectly kind of story. It's more realistic and I'm hoping that, that will appeal to readers in the long run.

Now to tag some amazing blog to follow on in the next few weeks! Any other takers?
