Turn off the TV and Read: Th Hunger Games Movie

Photobucket

This is the first installment of Turn off the TV and Read. So last week my friend Andi and I were sitting around on the computer trying to figure out what the hell we were going to do on our blog everyday and then in the middle of brainstorming she was like TV shows and books! I was of course totally enthusiastic about this even though I had no clue what that meant. Anyway she came up with this great idea about if you like these TV shows or movies, then you’ll like these books. So every Sunday there will be a new list out.

This week we’re going with…drum roll please:

The Hunger Games Movie

If you enjoyed this movie the three books I think you’ll enjoy are below!

 Book One:

Delirium by Lauren Oliver

Before scientists found the cure, people thought love was a good thing. They didn’t understand that once love -- the deliria -- blooms in your blood, there is no escaping its hold. Things are different now. Scientists are able to eradicate love, and the government demands that all citizens receive the cure upon turning eighteen. Lena Holoway has always looked forward to the day when she’ll be cured. A life without love is a life without pain: safe, measured, predictable, and happy. But with ninety-five days left until her treatment, Lena does the unthinkable: She falls in love.

Book Two:

Divergent by Veronica Roth

In a future Chicago, 16-year-old Beatrice Prior must choose among five predetermined factions to define her identity for the rest of her life, a decision made more difficult when she discovers that she is an anomaly who does not fit into any one group, and that the society she lives in is not perfect after all.

Book Three:

The Selection by Kiera Cass

For thirty-five girls, the Selection is the chance of a lifetime. The opportunity to escape the life laid out for them since birth. To be swept up in a world of glittering gowns and priceless jewels. To live in a palace and compete for the heart of gorgeous Prince Maxon. But for America Singer, being Selected is a nightmare. It means turning her back on her secret love with Aspen, who is a caste below her. Leaving her home to enter a fierce competition for a crown she doesn't want. Living in a palace that is constantly threatened by violent rebel attacks. Then America meets Prince Maxon. Gradually, she starts to question all the plans she's made for herself--and realizes that the life she's always dreamed of may not compare to a future she never imagined. Want to join this feature?
