The Story Behind Clayton Falls
I never planned to write contemporary romance. I was perfectly happy writing fantasy and paranormal, when out of nowhere I had the urge to write Derailed. Having ideas come suddenly isn’t unusual for me, but this time I couldn’t just shelve it for a later date.
Although completely fictional, Derailed developed out of some unresolved feelings from the death of a close friend. I think in some ways, it was my way of writing her a happier ending. I planned on leaving Derailed as a completely standalone novel, but before I even had my first edits back, I was already deep into the first draft of Veer. Somewhere in the process of writing Derailed, I fell in love with the town of Clayton Falls. There is just something about the small coastal North Carolina town that got under my skin—and I wasn’t ready to let go. I knew there were still stories to tell, and I knew Gavin and Becca were next.
I like to think of Clayton Falls as a series about second chances, hope, and finding love. I hope my readers enjoy watching the characters stumble towards their happily ever after.
Alyssa Rose Ivy is a Young Adult and New Adult author who loves to weave stories with romance and a southern setting. Although raised in the New York area, she fell in love with the South after moving to New Orleans for college. After years as a perpetual student, she turned back to her creative side and decided to write. She lives in North Carolina with her husband and two young children, and she can usually be found with a cup of coffee in her hand.
