I’m not typically drawn to books about cowboys, they just aren’t my thing. But there was something that drew me to The Couple, despite the book description. I’m not sure what it was, but I’m incredibly glad I gave this story a chance. It’s a little shorter than I expected it to be, but no less fun, engaging, or sexy. Harlie Williams has an exceptional way with words.  The descriptions in this story made me feel like I was there.
The smell of leather, the aroma of beer, the musky scent of man and bar, it was image invoking and definitely appealed to my senses. At first glance The Couple seems like it might be a steamy one night stand sort of story, but there’s an amusing surprise at the end that totally had me grinning like a fool.

The title should have given it away, but apparently I’m a little daft. I really enjoyed the trust between the two characters and how incredibly magnetic they were together. They were also very, very steamy. Williams was able to create the air of seduction, power play, and affection all at once. I was impressed with the bedroom scene especially the end. I won’t giveaway how it ended, even though I want to, but I will say the surprise at the end definitely had me looking at things a different way.

This was a well-executed short story and I’d highly recommend it!
