Book Description:

Hand to hand combat training: Check Cardio and strength training: Check Daemon hunting: Check Anomaly: Check

Check, check, check, check...That's all my life is. There's nothing ordinary about me. I'm "special." I know this because I'm reminded of it every stinking day. I can kick a Daemon's ass with both hands tied behind my back. I can run up a mountain without breaking a sweat. Know what I can't do? Get guys to notice me, or hang out with friends like normal people do. I can't just be ordinary because I have an Arch Angel for a mentor who is always breathing down my neck, and a family of angelic Guides and Protectors who scrutinize every little thing I do. Just for a day I want a life where I'm no longer some anomaly, where I don't have to feel like a lab rat.

And then I met Emrys. Okay, so my mentor and family hate him, but probably for good reason. After-all, he is a Soul Trader, and they aren't the most trust worthy beings. But, he is sooo hot with his green eyes, leather jacket and the sexiest tattoo you've ever seen running down his back. And-he doesn't treat me like a project.

I've got myself in quite a little quandary here. Choosing between my responsibilities, and the Trader that holds my heart is something I didn't sign up for. Torn between two different worlds, I must now decide who to trust and who to walk away from. What's a girl to do? See what I mean? I am an anomaly. I am Jordyn.

Tiffany King’s latest book, Jordyn: A Daemon Hunter Novel #1, was every bit as amazing as I suspected it would be. Set in the same universe as her Saving Angels series, King introduces a couple of new twists to the rules we already knew about from this world she’s created. While it’s not absolutely necessary to read the Saving Angels series before reading this book, it definitely helps the reader to already be familiar with many of the secondary characters.

King wastes no time throwing her newest character, Jordyn, right into the fray. In the first chapter, she is facing down multiple daemons—something we’ve seen before in the Saving Angels series, but unlike before, Jordyn is facing them down alone rather than with a group of Guides and Protectors. And she does it with surprising ease. She’s intrigued when a young man named Emrys shows himself after she’s done fighting. They immediately sense that neither of them is human, but they don’t feel threatened by one another, either.

Her arch angel mentor tells her that Emrys is a Soul Trader—someone who takes souls and delivers them for judgment. Some souls to go the Light, and others go to hell. Haniel also warns her to stay away from the Soul Trader, and her guardians, Krista and Mark, agree, much to Jordyn’s chagrin. She’s annoyed that she’s being treated like a child when she’s seventeen years old and a daemon fighter. She’s also annoyed that everyone is keeping her in the dark about who her parents are and what happened to them—things that she doesn’t remember at all.

Krista and Mark and Haniel and the others try and get her more into the fold of helping people, which she does like because she’s good at it. But part of her just wants to be a teenager and spend time with the guy that she likes. The guy who frequently shows up and teleports her away to distant places, despite warnings from Haniel and her guardians. She feels torn between the two aspects of her life and struggles to deal with both, as well as trying to figure out who she really is and how she fits in.

But the truth isn’t always as cut and dry as it seems, and when Jordyn learns it, she’s more than a little shocked. Will she be able to handle it?

Let me just say that I loved this book. I flew through it in a couple of days, entertained by Jordyn’s antics and her rebellious personality. I am left with one question, however. When is the next book coming out??

This one gets five hearts from me! I highly recommend it to anyone and everyone!

    1. Hi Megan! It's an awesome book for sure. I'd start with the Saving Angels series and then read this one, since they're set in the same universe and Saving Angels came first. :) But all of her books are really, really good!
