Book Description:

The Stella who emerges from the rubble of the bombing in Montana is a woman full of conflict. She knows she should be grateful that she lived when others didn't, but after waking in the hospital as a celebrity, complete with a new moniker, she's bitter and distrustful, questioning everything in her life.

She's unsure of her friends, her new boyfriend, and her job. In addition, a face from the past reappears and threatens to take the one good thing in her life.

Stella attempts to deal with the new scrutiny of her life with her usual sense of humor, but she's filled with a new emotion that she tries desperately to hide: HATE. Her recovery is hastened by her determination to find the man who turned her into a walking scar. She's going to kill him; she needs to kill him.

Stella isn't alone. She has her close friends and her dog, Cooper. Will their support be enough to help Stella accomplish her plan, or will this endeavor be her undoing?

This book is intended for mature audiences due to strong language and sexual content.

Do you recall how your interest in writing originated or did you always just know you wanted to be a writer?

I've always expressed myself much better in writing. I used to write this crushingly emotional poems and then never share them with anyone. My mom's been cleaning out my room and has been laughing at all the angst I had as a teenager. I wrote my first full length novel at 22, so I think its always been rambling around in my brain.

What inspired Tension?

Tension is the second in the series that started with By A Thread and I had this daydream about an interaction between a bartender and a girl that was drowning her sorrows in beer. I don't force my writing, so the story that came after that was a little out of left field. I will tell you I had an entirely different theory for the story in Tension, but my characters didn't allow it.

Which came first for you, the characters or the plot?

Characters. Always in my head.

Is there anything you found particularly challenging when you were writing Tension?

Tension was the easiest book I've ever written. The story poured out of me, even if it was very different than what I anticipated.

If you could be one of your characters from Tension, who would you chose? Why?

That's an interesting question. Millie, because she is the most sane. When writing Tension, was there anyone or anything specific that inspired the character Stella? Honestly, no Stella is like my inner kickass chick. She is so unapologetic for her behavior, its utterly refreshing to me. I don't know anyone like that. Also, she is so broken I don't know anyone like that either.

In your opinion what three words best describe Stella?

Smart, broken, hopeful.

Quickies:

Coffee or Tea?

Coffee, a lot of coffee.

Milk chocolate or Dark?

Milk chocolate.

Favorite novel and why?

That is always the hardest question I get. I simply cannot decide on one, but I would say in the past year it would be The Fault in Our Stars. The story was so tragic, but there was a reflection of real life in it because it was funny and hopeful in its own way. I haven't cried reading a book ever, it was my first time.

Hard copy books or e-books? Why?

I have a ton of books in bookcases. I love the touch and feel of books. However, since I got my kindle I've been able to read like a maniac. It’s cheaper and more convenient.

What kind of weather do you write best in?

A crisp bite to the air. I wrote By A Thread in two months last fall, most of it in Aspen in one weekend with friends. They were a little annoyed with me, but we still had a blast.

Favorite author and why?

That's an unfair question. John Green is brilliant. Also, I'm amazed by many of the independent authors. I think Tara Sivec and Tarryn Fisher are amazing. I just read a series by an author I didn't know, Claire Contreas. It was great.

If you could turn one book or series into films, what would you pick and who would you cast as the main characters?

By A Thread would be a great series. Stella- Jennifer Lawrence, Patrick- Jesse Williams, Billy- Stephen Arnell, George- Paul Walker, Millie- Candice Accola
