October 15th - 31st

I love Halloween. It is one of my all time favorite holiday's and has been since I was little. There's just something about dressing up, giving our candy and watching scary movies that makes me giddy. When I was younger one of my best friends and I even used to have black and red parties for Halloween and Friday the 13th. Themed parties are so the best.
Anyway, in honor of this hop and the upcoming holiday, enter the giveaway below and win one spooky book of your choice up to $12. And sound off below letting me know if you have any Halloween traditions of your own!

  1. The best memory I have of Halloween when I was a child is every year when we would get home from trick-or-treat we would sit in the floor still in our costumes, then Mom would turn the TV to the Peanut's "The Great Pumpkin. We would sit there on the floor with all our candy dumped in from of us and watch it.

  10. My favorite Halloween memories are of going to my Grandma and Grandpa's house after Trick-or-Treating. We would sort through the candy and I'd give all of the Three Musketeers candy bars to my grandfather since they are his favorite.

This was before the town made everyone stop to have the candy checked by the police to make sure it was safe. Before, it was more laid back and less scary to have my parents go through the candy instead of having police officers checking all of the candy, where they would throw anything suspicious (anything homemade or candy with holes in the wrappers) away.

Thank you so much for having the giveaway! I'd love the chance to win, so fingers crossed. :-)

  18. My favorite Halloween memory is from when I was little (obviously). I had cousins that lived in the next town over and their town was having candy night on a different night than my town. So my brother and I went with trick or treating with our cousins in BOTH towns that year and had to have gotten a million pieces of candy. Best Halloween ever

  25. A Halloween class party I cohosted with a bunch of my classmates when I was 14. We decorated the house with scary and creepy props and dressed ourselves up. The guests had to go through the "horror house" before we started the party.

  26. My favorite Halloween memory is the year my friends and I decided to dress up as kids from the future. We decked ourselves out with tinfoil wrapped around our bodies on top of leggings and t-shirts, and put tights on our heads and ran wires up and down our bodies. Weird stuff. We thought we looked TOTALLY AWESOME in that way only a 12-year-old can think something is awesome. No one had a clue what we were, but clearly we had put some effort into our costumes, so we got a lot of candy. Plus, I still think the costumes were awesome.

  29. When I was little, I always thought it was awesome when I seen people bobbing for apples on TV. I grew up in New Orleans and had never actually seen it before until one year I went to visit family in Indiana and we went to a fair and they had a bobbing station. I was so thrilled, lol.

  45. There was a blizzard just before Halloween in 1991. My grandpa had cleared a path to the car, and the snow drifts were taller than I was at the time. No, I didn't go door to door—my mom took me to the local mall, where I went store to store...although we arrived a little later, so some stores were already out. Ended up being a boon for me, though, because at a shoe shop, the guy thought I didn't have very much, and since I was such a sweet, li'l mermaid that year, he dumped the rest of his bowl into my bag! My five-year-old eyes bugged out of my head!

  46. My brother and I used to go trick-or-treating with the boys across the hall. We'd leave right at the starting time but would stay out an hour or so past the end. As soon as we got back, it was swap time.

Now, hubby and I search for costumes for our daughter and take her to community Halloween events. She's going as a firefighter this year. A couple years ago, she was a princess. I know -- quite a range but it's a pretty spontaneous decision. The princess costume was like-new and given to us by a neighbor. The firefighter costume was found at the thrift store along with the hat. It fit her perfectly. If we didn't find anything, I was going to have her go as an ethnic Rapunzel. Her hair is already long and I have a long floral dress she could wear.

    Thanks :)
