Blog Hop: Clear Your Shelf Giveaway Hop

Clear Your Shelf Giveaway Hop

January 4th - 10th

Happy New Year!

It's been a long year and I'm looking forward to the new one. That being said it was time to clean off the bookshelf and while I have TONS of books just sitting there that I need to go through I picked these 7 to send to a new home. I don't typically get rid of books, but I figured sharing is caring right?

The first three books I'm giving away are a series that was recommended to me by a friend. I really enjoyed these three books (mostly because of my crazy love for mermaids) and I wanted to share the love. These books are engaging, fun, witty and just an all around good read.

The second three books I'm giving away are all Nicholas Sparks books. Now while I absolutely love the movies based on his books, I've never actually been able to get through one whole book of his and believe me, I've tried. Oh, except Dear John. I read all of that, but didn't love the ending. It's not that they aren't well written or good plotlines, because they are. I just seem to have a very short attention span for his books. If I'm not reading paranoral stuff I'm mostly reading contemporary romance and I'm not good with sad endings in book. I like my happily ever after firmly in place.

The last book I'm giving away I received for free. It was a really quick read and quite unique in it's own right. I enjoyed it, but I know I probably won't read it again so I thought someone else might enjoy it. All the book descriptions and covers are below. Enjoy the hop and don't forget to visit all the other awesome blogs participating! :)

Sleeping with the Fishes (Fred the Mermaid #1)

Fred is not your ordinary mermaid. She's not blonde. She's not buxom. And she's definitely not perky. In fact, Fred can be downright cranky. And it doesn't help matters that her hair is blue.

While volunteering at the New England Aquarium, Fred learns that there are weird levels of toxins in the local seawater. A gorgeous marine biologist wants her help investigating.

So does her merperson ruler, the High Prince of the Black Sea. You'd think it would be easy for a mermaid to get to the bottom of things. Think again.

Swimming Without a Net (Fred the Mermaid #2)

As Fred the Mermaid tries to fit in with her own kind, she finds herself hooked on both Artur, the High Prince of the undersea realm, and Thomas, a hunky marine biologist.

She's also caught between two factions of merfolk: those happy with swimming under the radar-and those who want to bring their existence to the surface.

Fish Out of Water (Fred the Mermaid #3)

Fred the Mermaid has taken the bait and chosen to date Artur, Prince of the Black Sea, over human marine biologist Thomas. And just in time.

The existence of the Undersea Folk is no longer a secret, and someone needs to keep them from floundering in the media spotlight.

Fred has all the right skills for that job, but has a hard time when her real father surfaces and tries to overthrow Artur's regime.

The Last Song

Seventeen year-old Veronica “Ronnie” Miller’s life was turned upside-down when her parents divorced and her father moved from New York City to Wilmington, North Carolina. Three years later, she remains angry and alienated from her parents, especially her father… until her mother decides it would be in everyone’s best interest if she spent the summer in Wilmington with him.

Ronnie’s father, a former concert pianist and teacher, is living a quiet life in the beach town, immersed in creating a work of art that will become the centerpiece of a local church.

The tale that unfolds is an unforgettable story about love in its myriad forms – first love, the love between parents and children – that demonstrates, as only a Nicholas Sparks novel can, the many ways that deeply felt relationships can break our hearts… and heal them.

The Choice

Travis Parker has everything a man could want: a good job, loyal friends, even a waterfront home in small-town North Carolina. In full pursuit of the good life -- boating, swimming, and regular barbecues with his good-natured buddies -- he holds the vague conviction that a serious relationship with a woman would only cramp his style.

That is, until Gabby Holland moves in next door. Despite his attempts to be neighborly, the appealing redhead seems to have a chip on her shoulder about him...and the presence of her longtime boyfriend doesn't help.

Despite himself, Travis can't stop trying to ingratiate himself with his new neighbor, and his persistent efforts lead them both to the doorstep of a journey that neither could have foreseen.

Spanning the eventful years of young love, marriage and family, The Choice ultimately confronts us with the most heartwrenching question of all: how far would you go to keep the hope of love alive?

Dear John

An angry rebel, John dropped out of school and enlisted in the Army, not knowing what else to do with his life--until he meets the girl of his dreams, Savannah.

Their mutual attraction quickly grows into the kind of love that leaves Savannah waiting for John to finish his tour of duty, and John wanting to settle down with the woman who has captured his heart.

But 9/11 changes everything. John feels it is his duty to re-enlist. And sadly, the long separation finds Savannah falling in love with someone else. "Dear John," the letter read...and with those two words, a heart was broken and two lives were changed forever.

Returning home, John must come to grips with the fact that Savannah, now married, is still his true love—and face the hardest decision of his life.

Glimmerglass (Faeriewalker #1)

It's all she's ever wanted to be, but it couldn't be further from her grasp...

Dana Hathaway doesn't know it yet, but she's in big trouble. When her alcoholic mom shows up at her voice recital drunk, again, Dana decides she's had enough and runs away to find her mysterious father in Avalon: the only place on Earth where the regular, everyday world and the captivating, magical world of Faerie intersect.

But from the moment Dana sets foot in Avalon, everything goes wrong, for it turns out she isn't just an ordinary teenage girl, she's a Faeriewalker, a rare individual who can travel between both worlds, and the only person who can bring magic into the human world and technology into Faerie.

Dana finds herself tangled up in a cutthroat game of Fae politics. Someone's trying to kill her, and everyone seems to want something from her, from her newfound friends and family to Ethan, the hot Fae guy Dana figures she'll never have a chance with...until she does. Caught between two worlds, Dana isn't sure where she'll ever fit in and who can be trusted, not to mention if her world will ever be normal again.
