Book Description:

The night that changed everything!

Waitress Darcy Penn is the smart, sensible type—flirting with the extremely cute guy in the bar just isn't her usual style. As for ending up in his hotel room?

Definitely not! Sneaking out while he's in the bathroom to avoid the post-sex awkwardness? Much more like it….

If Darcy had stuck around, Jeff Norton could have told her about their "epic latex fail." So he shouldn't be quite so shocked when months later, Darcy turns up at his classy L.A. office and throws up in his wastepaper basket.

She's got a bad case of morning sickness, and she's here to find out what he's going to do about it!

Mira Lyn Kelly is seriously working her way into my heart with these adorable quick reads. I just recently finished Waking Up Married and adored it! So, when I saw Waking Up Pregnant I knew I needed to read it. And I wasn’t wrong. Waking Up Pregnant was such a sweet story and I loved that it was about Conner’s best friend Jeff. It was nice to learn more about the guy who knocked some sense into Conner.

I really enjoyed seeing the parallels between the two books and realizing that Jeff’s encounter with Darcy happened the very same night Conner met Megan. Darcy, a waitress in Vegas caught Jeff’s attention while he was waiting on Conner and after a night of fun and passion Darcy takes off never knowing that their one night would turn into anything more.
I like that Kelly went a different route with this book. Having the condom break instead of not using one at all was a good move, in real life, things happen and a broken condom is incredibly realistic. When Darcy sought Jeff out after finding out she was pregnant I expected there to be some kind of explosion, but they both handled things maturely for the most part and set a plan in motion so they could both be a part of the baby’s life.

I love that Darcy didn’t just up and move in the beginning like Jeff wanted her too. She took her independence seriously because of how she grew up (her Mother’s endless parade of husbands walking in and out) but ultimately she wound up moving when she got really sick and fainted one night while at work.

Jeff swooped in, saved the day, and moved her in with his Mother since she refused to stay with him. I don’t think my love for Gail (Jeff’s Mother) can ever be expressed with words. She is probably the most awesome supporting character ever. The woman made me laugh out loud several times. There’s also a really funny twist with Gail that I got a kick out of, but won’t ruin.

Jeff and Conner have that whole possessive thing in common, so there were some parts where I wanted to slap him upside his head, but a lot less than Conner because there was a certain level of emotion Jeff possessed that was absent in Conner at first. I enjoyed the differences in their characters and the way he was so attentive to Darcy.

The plot itself was sweet and just long enough to give me the happily ever after I was looking for. I really do enjoy these well-written quick reads. I’d definitely recommend Waking Up Pregnant to anyone who has a hankering for sexy and sweet romance stories.

Author Bio:

USA Today bestselling author Mira Lyn Kelly grew up in the Chicago area and earned her degree in Fine Arts from Loyola University. She met the love of her life while studying abroad in Rome, Italy, only to discover he’d been living right around the corner from her for the previous two years. Having spent her twenties working and playing in the Windy City, she’s now settled with her husband in rural Minnesota where their four beautiful children provide an excess of action, adventure, and entertainment.

With writing as her passion and inspiration striking at the darnedest times, Mira can always be found with a notebook at the ready. (More than once she’s been caught by the neighbors, covered in grass clippings, scribbling away atop the compost container!)

When she isn’t reading, writing, or running to keep up with the kids, she loves watching movies, blabbing with the girls, and cooking with her husband and friends.
