Klaus Mikaelson, the original vampire-werewolf hybrid, has returned to New Orleans, the city his family helped build, the city from which he and his siblings – Elijah and Rebekah – were exiled a century ago by their relentless hunter father. Drawn back by a mysterious tip that a plot is brewing against him in the supernatural melting pot that is the French Quarter, Klaus is surprised that the city still feels like home to him despite the decades he’s been away.

Curious as to why Klaus would return to the one place he swore he would never set foot again, Elijah follows his brother and learns that the beautiful and rebellious werewolf Hayley – Klaus’ onetime flame – has also come to the French Quarter searching for clues to her family history. Hayley has fallen into the hands of a powerful witch named Sophie Deveraux. When Sophie reveals to the brothers the almost unbelievable news that Hayley is carrying Klaus’ unborn child, Elijah realizes that the Original family has been given a second chance at humanity and the redemption they desperately crave.

"Le Grand Guignol" 03/04/14 - Review by Helena E. Eseloma

In this ep we have Rebekah and Marcel on the run, but they have a plan and it's to resurrect Davina then get the heck out of dodge. You know what they say about best laid plans.

Well they retrieve Davina's body, but Sabine has placed a boundary spell on the cemetery and Rebekah is trapped. She tells Marcel to leave that she will find him. Marcel takes Davina back to her old stomping grounds in the attic of the church where he witnesses her come back to life.

Hayley gets Sabine to mix up the cure out in the bayou and on the next full moon her family will be free of the curse. Elijah finds them and hearing what is going on whisks the witch and the cure away. He questions her sincerity in helping Hayley, but in the end believes she is being truthful. So he takes the cure back to Hayley and she leaves.


Sabine antagonizes him over Hayley and he bites her, but doesn't kill her. They end up at the cemetery where Sabine gets away from him. When he tries to leave he can't because of the bounding spell. Sabine kills herself thinking she will be resurrected in another body.

Unbeknownst to Sabine, Monique was given a spell by Elijah in case Sabine betrayed the other witches. She was resurrected into her original body of Celeste. Elijah goes to her only to kill her for the last time.

In between we have Klaus recovering from the dagger and remembering NOLA 1919 and the return of The Destroyer. Mikael, The Originals father. Seems he gave his blessing for Rebekah and Marcel, but they had already betrayed him. He narrates for Cami how Mikael came and destroyed everything he built in NOLA. It is then he lost any humanity that was left.

Klaus, Elijah and Rebekah are reunited at the cemetery. It's looks like it's going to be Elijah and Rebekah against Klaus? Who just happens to have the white oak stake.
