Damon believes Stefan is staying away because it would be too painful for him to see Damon and Elena as a couple, but Elena can’t escape the uneasy feeling that Stefan needs their help. While Elena is reluctant to leave Damon and Jeremy, she is also thrilled to be heading off to a new start at nearby Whitmore College with Caroline as her roommate. Still unaware that Bonnie is dead, Elena and Caroline are waiting for their friend to join them at college. Jeremy is the only one who can see and talk to Bonnie who is trapped on the Other Side.

Elena is dealing with the aftermath of Katherine's debacle of the body snatcher, oops I mean traveller. She doesn't remember anything. She talks to Stefan and Damon and wants to know what she missed in the passed three weeks. Stefan tells her they kissed. Damon tells her he killed Dr. Wes and about Caroline and Klaus being together.
Caroline discovers through Enzo that Elena's virus is in it's second stage, but there is a cure. She calls Stefan because the travellers need him to find his doppleganger because they only want to protect him and Elena.
Elena is going off the rails and hallucinating. She thinks she killed Aaron. Damon escapes his cellar prison and goes to Elena. Sloane locates the doppleganger by doing some shock therapy on Stefan. When she learns he's in Atlanta she doesn't stop hurting Stefan.
Caroline politely threatens her. Elena hurts Liv to get her to bring down the barrier. Damon finds Elena wandering the school campus and he finallly tells her he killed Aaron. Enzo arrives with the antidote.
Stefan awakes and plays with Caroline calling her Rebekah. She falls for his ruse a bit and he continues with it calling her Lexi now. I just love their friendship dynamic. Enzo interrupts telling Caroline the car is running. Caroline explains that she volunteered to help Enzo kill Stefan's doppleganger.
He's worried about her, but Caroline reassures him she doesn't trust Enzo either. Bonnie and Liv head back to her room and make plans to meet up again to practice magic. Live goes into her room and Luke is there, he's her brother.
They talk about Bonnie and how she thinks she's helping Liv with magic and Liv thinks it's cute. Luke says until Bonnie learns her friends are in jeopardy. Elena and Damon argue that they are toxic then start kissing and take it to the bedroom.
