A Bad Boy Can Be Good
for a Girl by Tanya Lee Stone is written from the perspectives of three
different girls, Josie, Nicolette, and Aviva. I love this book. First off I
love the format Stone writes the book in. It’s easy to read and interesting to
see how each section or word rather relates to what’s being written. Second, it’s
realistic. I love when I can relate a book to an experience I’ve had in my life
or one of my friends have had.
Every girl meets that
guy at some point in their life and I like how Stone is able to show
different types of girls and their reactions to that kind of guy. Each of the
three girls are different ages, come from different cliques and look at
themselves different ways. It shows how any kind of girl whether they are
confident or not, smart or not, can be duped by a guy who knows what he’s
doing.
I like how Josie decides to do something about it when she
finds out what kind of guy he his. Seeing her share what happened and then
having other girls add onto it in a book, well it’s kind of awesome. It’s like
the kind of thing you see on the bathroom wall expect even more awesome. And I
like that these three girls found each other and sort of grew stronger because
of what happened hopefully learning from their mistakes.
There wasn’t anything overly graphic in this book so I’m not
entirely sure why it’s in the top books banned for 2013, but honestly I think
this is a must read for teenage girls. Not only to let them see that guys can
be pretty awful sometimes, but to show them that if they’ve fallen for
something like what happens in this book it’s not their fault, it’s not the end
of the world, and their not alone.
I seriously loved this book and I’m looking forward to
reading more from the author!

Hmmm. This seems to be the kind of book that warns you away from bad boys. No idea why it's banned also, but this book sounds really wise. Great review!
