Book Description:

My name is Skylar Quinn, I just moved to New York with my best friend Bridget, and I have a confession. Well, more than one. Okay, quite a few really. Fine, here goes!

Confession #1: I'm a sex columnist. Hold on, that's not really the confession. You see, I'm sort of a virgin...sex columnist.

Confession #2: I'm in love with Bridget's older brother, Oliver. No—I was. No—I am. Wait, was? Am? Crap.

Confession #3: I've been avoiding Oliver for four years. Or I was until today, because he just moved in. Yes, you read that correctly. He's my new roommate. So that night we've both been pretending never happened, well, we might not be able to keep it a secret any longer.

And trust me, this is only the beginning.

Excerpt:

But then a gentle knock sounds against my door.

And there's only one person it could be.

"Skye?" he whispers into the dark.

I could pretend to be asleep, but the alcohol has drowned out my neuroses, replacing them with curiosity. "What do you want, Ollie?"

"I just…" He sighs. My eyes are closed but I can perfectly imagine the way he's running his hand through his hair, messing it up—an unconscious move he doesn’t even realize makes my heart melt. Makes every girl's heart melt.

"Don't apologize," I say. It's the closest reference I've made to talking about what happened. And he understands immediately. Understands that I don't want to talk about it—but I doubt he understands why.

Excerpt:

“You’re sure we can be in here?” Adam and I sat in the club’s kitchen each enjoying a plate of food. We used one of the stainless-steel tables while the staff moved around us, acting as if we weren’t there.

“Yeah. My boy, Lenny’s father, is the manager here. Remember when I told you to wait a minute in the hallway? I asked him for permission.” He smiled and finished eating the last of the Swedish meatballs on his plate.

During the hour, we ate to the point where I worried I might burst out of my dress.

Adam wiped his mouth and raised his glass in a salute. “I forgot to mention, but you look great in your dress.”

Whoa. Does he have ESP?

I put down my fork. “I was just thinking I ate like a pig and must be bulging out of it, and not in a sexy way. Sure you’re not physic and reading my mind?”

“If I were, I would know why you’re running away from a guy. So, what’s the deal? Why are you afraid of him?”

“I’m not scared of him.” I tapped my fingers on the table while a waiter placed crackers on a tray.

Adam’s hand dropped over mine. “Evelynn. I saw the fear in your eyes.”

Excerpt:

In the most surreal moment of my life, my mother, the woman who had just folded my clothes into orderly bundles, told me, “I’m going into rehab.”

Resolution rested on every line of my mother’s profile. Rehab. The bricks in my stomach lurched. This was my fault. Why hadn’t I been in Mom’s face as soon as I started to notice her taking more and more pills? But I thought she knew what she was doing. Christ, she was a nurse. How the hell had I missed the fact that she’d started crossing the line? I felt dizzy, off balance, like someone held up my world and gave it a snow globe shake.

“I’d drag you to my place,” Grace said. “But with my hours at the law firm and Ian being on the road so much – you’d be alone most of the time anyway.”

I sucked back a snort. “I’m old enough to stay here and look after myself.”

Book Description:

There’s nothing wrong with wanting to wait. High school is over and Tessa is done with the drama. She wants to wait. So what? Does that mean she’s destined to never be with anyone? Probably.

Sometimes it’s possible to wait too long. Cassie’s best friend just tried to kiss her. He should have tried a year ago. Not now. Does that mean that they can’t still be friends? Maybe.

Tessa Jameson is determined not to fall victim to the same mistakes of her past. And after meeting Tucker, she’s going to need all the help she can get.

Cassie DeMarco refuses to give her heart up to someone who is about to leave and start the next chapter in his life. So this summer it’s time to forget Mark, and focus on finding a fling instead.

Okay, it’s official, Ryan Ringbloom is going to be the death of me!

I adored Wait by Ryan Ringbloom, the second part in the Fast Series. I wasn’t Tessa’s biggest fan in Fast, but towards the end of the book I started to see she wasn’t all that bad and then in Wait, just perfection! We really got to know Tessa in this book and what motivates her as a character and it really helped me see her in a different light.

Wait follows Tessa on her adventures in summer camp, meeting new people, and falling in love. This book literally had aspects of all things I love. I laughed out loud, teared up, got annoyed, and had my heart warmed through the course of this book.

Make Robin jealous with the popular and oh-so slutty, Ashley. How can that plan fail? Well, for starters Robin is not the only one jealous by Kent and Ashley's new-found friendship.

Enter the hot younger brother, Patrick. By the end you have one very happy couple and one not so happy couple. Yikes!

♥ ♥ ♥

I love Patrick!

It’s been a long time since I’ve been able to start a review off that way, but Fast by Ryan Ringbloom is by far one of the most relatable books I’ve read in a while. I haven’t loved characters this much in way too long. First, I adore Ringbloom’s writing style. The book is split into two parts. In the first part we get the story from Robin and Ashley’s point of view and the second part is told from Kent and Patrick’s point of view.

I really liked that we got to see what the girls were thinking and how they were feeling. It was nice to see that even while they feign certain things to other people in the book, the reader always knows what’s going through their head. Plus it was awesome to see how they changed and grew over the course of the book. It was perfection.

Excerpt:

“Damn, Ollie, you got hot.”

I look up from my phone, confused, wondering where Ollie is since I thought he had left. Then I realize the guy who just spoke was looking at me. Talking to me. Making a stupid joke about me. Praise the gods of BMX—I wore a face full of make up today so hopefully the bright red I feel pooling in my cheeks doesn’t show as much as if I were bare-faced. “Hi,” I say, swallowing back my nerves. My right hand gestures toward the facility behind me. “Welcome to C&C BMX Park?”

Is that what I’m supposed to say? Who knows? I suck at this. “Thank you!” the guy says, stepping forward, wearing that smile like it’s permanently stuck on his face. He’s kind of cute, I guess. For a college-age guy. He has super short cropped hair and a neck tattoo that’s some kind of quote. He’s thin and lean. The bike he pushed in with him is all beat up and not shiny like the girl’s bike from yesterday.

He turns his attention toward the keypad on the counter, typing in a numerical code and then pressing his index finger to the glass window above the keys. My computer lights up with a message that Dustin Moore just signed in.

Excerpt:

“Hey, wait up,” Harper calls as I run ahead. It’s an early morning and we’re running in the park. Isabelle suggested I join Harper on his regular run when I mentioned to her that I started running two weeks ago. Harper was dubious at first. I think he was afraid I’d slow him down. But I push myself every day to get the poison out of my system.

The poison being Chris, of course.

The day Chris broke my heart I crashed at Izzy’s place. The next morning, when I knew he was at work, Izzy helped me move my stuff from his place to hers. We managed to avoid him altogether. Now, my boxes litter her upstairs hallway, and I sleep on an air mattress. Harper has been evicted back to his place and he’s none too happy about it, but he puts up with me because I’m Isabelle’s friend. He’s great like that. “What’s the rush?” he says now, breathing almost normally.

I shrug, but the gesture gets lost in the movement of my entire body.

Excerpt:

Buzzing.

I heard it as I moved closer. Each step raised the tiny hairs all over my body until I tingled. I fought the urge to turn around, but Janie would kill me. Again.

The humming pitched higher. My heart detonated in my chest. Just around the corner and…I was there. Lunch.

I tugged my backpack tighter and held the straps out in front so I felt the security of it on my back. The monkeys were crazy today, jumping, screaming, laughing. All of them, the Geeks, Preps, Loners, Freaks, Smarties, Drama-Ramas, and Jockheads—all high—all with serious issues of ADHD and all put on this earth at the same time, designated to this lunchroom at this very minute, to bug the crap out of me. My skin itched.

I skirted into the room a little more. Just in time to catch this little, lovely, mind-blowing comment from Christopher Kronin, Head Jock. “Hey man, did you check out Miranda today? I swear I saw some cleeeeeavage!” Or, as I like to call him, Head Tool in the Jerkoff Parade.

ONE, TWO, THREE isn’t the first book I wrote but it’s the first one I felt like I wanted to share with the world (scary) and that was getting so many lovely reviews by the ones who read it.

I got very close to getting picked up by a literary agent several times, I received great feedback from beta readers, critique partners and through contests but…the magic door stayed close. In the past months, I read a lot of books that I know would do so well with readers but for x or y reason haven´t hit the shelves yet. That´s when I realized that I could choose my own magic.

“Olivia was right. The point of the choose your own adventure books was just that: Choice. It wasn’t about where you ended up; it was about the decisions you made to get there. And I don’t want to skip to the end anymore…” – Rosaline, When You Were Mine

If I could give this book 500 hearts I would, but my rating system only goes up to 5.

I’ve read a lot of great books lately, but When You Were Mine by Rebecca Serle surpasses 95 percent of them. This book was amazing from start to finish. I am a lover of all things Shakespeare, so when I saw the synopsis for this book it was an automatic must read, plus guys the cover is so pretty!

I absolutely loved the format of this book and the writing was exceptional, but I think what I loved the most were the characters. Serle did an amazing job of shaping the characters in this book, from Rosaline, Charlie and Olivia to Ben Rob, Juliet and of course Len, who by the way I loved from the second he was introduced.

I love this book, no really. Love. Actually that might not be a strong enough word. More like I’m infatuated with this book. I’m stalker creepy attached to it. Yes that just happened, I said that.

Lovely Vicious by Sara Wolf follows 17-year-old Isis Blake as she engages in a battle of wits with East Summit High’s most sought after bachelor, Jack Hunter. This is not your typical love story and I think that might be what I love most about it. Wolf knows how to own a main character. Isis is my hero. I totally want her as my BFF.

Isis is like any other teenager girl who’s been hurt and bullied by the people around her. When she lived in Florida, she was overweight and in love with a boy who of course wouldn’t give her the time of day until he did and it was all just a big dirty scheme. Book Description:

Blaze is tired of spending her life on the sidelines, drawing comics and feeling invisible. She's desperate for soccer star Mark to notice her. And when her BFF texts Mark a photo of Blaze in sexy lingerie, it definitely gets his attention.

After a hot date in the back of her minivan, Blaze is flying high, but suddenly Mark's feelings seem to have been blasted by a freeze-ray gun, and he dumps her. Blaze gets her revenge by posting a comic strip featuring uber-villain Mark the Shark.

Mark then retaliates by posting her "sext" photo, and, overnight, Blaze goes from Super Virgin Girl to Super Slut. That life on the sidelines is looking pretty good right about now...

I feel like a seesaw when I think about Blaze (or Love in the Time of Supervillains). There are parts about this book that I adore and other parts that I disliked with a fiery passion. Blaze (or Love in the Time of Supervillains) by Laurie Boyle Crompton follows 17-year-old Blaze as she fumbles through awkward encounters with her peers, deals with a minivan full of adolescent soccer players, and navigates through the waters of teenagedom one comic book at a time.

Now don’t get me wrong, I like Blaze, honest I did. But I hate how she barely ever spoke up for herself and how a lot of her inner monologues were all about Mark. Her naiveté really bugged me on a personal level mostly because I don’t think I was that clueless as a teenager. I get it’s a book and all characters are different, but come on, grow a brain Blaze! I just wanted to shake her and be like you’re a smart girl, don’t fall for Mark’s crap!
