Kitty’s hands shook and her vision blurred with tears. It didn’t matter. After having read the short note three times, the words ‘… transfer to the second floor’ had been engraved on her brain. The elevator doors opened and Richard Delaney stepped off surrounded by his physical therapy staff, who were tittering at one of his clever quips. I read the next question on the page, but the loser’s gaze bores through my dark shield of hair and my arms erupt in gooseflesh. Before I can skim the multiple choice answers, my eyes betray me and shoot up to scan the classroom.

Mr. Winkler sits at his desk scratching at some poor schlub’s paper with his red pen of doom. His bald head gleams in the harsh fluorescent light. God, I hope it’s not my paper he’s destroying. I can’t afford another bad grade in this class.

There were only two reasons for me to be awake on my couch, staring up into the gloom of the pre-dawn hours. The first is my house itself, which complained against the deep cold with creaking pops like the knees of a guy who played sports a long time ago when he was younger and had more hair.

I can’t even.

I don’t even know where to start with this one. I mean I suppose the beginning would be a good start, but my head is still reeling and I’m not sure I can wrap my head around it all. But one this I can say is wow. The ending to The Warrior Prophet was a surprise, but seriously more than I could have hoped for! I didn’t think the series would go there, but it makes sense. Clearly I don’t want to give too much away about the ending, but so good.

I liked Mia’s journey in this book and though I feel she did a teeny tiny backtrack on the maturation level, with the situation she was put in, I get it. And by the end of the book I think Mia was right where she needed to be. I really enjoyed Vosin’s take on Hell and the descriptions she used in this part of the story. Everything felt so vivid, so real.
