February Fun Facts
Today is Susan B. Anthony’s birthday! Three cheers for the woman who was a huge force in the 19th century women’s suffrage movement.
Not only was she bad ass and from New York, which I’m convinced has a direct correlation to being awesome, she helped found the American Equal Rights Association (AERA). Following AERA, Anthony worked with Elizabeth Cady Stanton as Publisher of Revolution and founded the National Women’s Suffrage Association.

Also in case you live under a rock and have never seen it, in 1979, Susan B. Anthony's image was chosen for the new dollar coin, making her the first woman to be depicted on US currency, again awesome.
But because the government can sometimes be d-bags, like you all know, in1999 they announced the replacement of the Susan B. Anthony dollar with one featuring the image of Sacagawea. Sigh, bastards. Anyway she was still the first chick on a coin dollar which I think is pretty beast.
“I declare to you that woman must not depend upon the protection of man, but must be taught to protect herself, and there I take my stand.” – Susan B. Anthony
