Book Description:

Elizabeth DeVille doesn't belong at a party like this—one where the gowns cost more than her Camry and cigars run higher than her grad school utility bills. Dragged out of seclusion by her best friend Suri, Elizabeth is merely playing dress-up, rubbing elbows with a crowd that banished her troubled family years ago.

Hunter West is tired. Tired of parties, tired of pretending, and tired of trying to right a wrong that haunts him every day. Bourbon heir and professional poker player by day, by night Hunter is gambling with his life in a high-stakes game of crime and blackmail.

When Elizabeth stumbles into Hunter's den of vices, she's a light in the darkness, a flame in the void. And, just like everything he touches, Hunter mars her in a record time. To rectify the damage done, Elizabeth needs money she doesn't have, and she's come up with a foolproof way to get it.

Follow Elizabeth—code-named Scarlett—to the lush Nevada brothel where she'll auction her virginity and risk the only thing that's not for sale: her heart. The highest bidder is a familiar face, with wicked hands and the devil's mouth. And a secret so dark that it could cost her life.

Hunter West is a sexy beast. It needed to be said.

Now that I got that off my chest, we can commence with the book reviewing. Selling Scarlett was quite a bit different than I thought it was going to be, but I think that’s a good thing. I loved this book, loved it. I got my copy from Inkslinger PR and Ella James in exchange for an honest review.

Selling Scarlett follows 23-year-old Elizabeth DeVille, heiress of the DeVille fortune, or lack thereof. Her Mother’s an addict who spent Elizabeth’s childhood in and out of rehab. Her Father left her and her Mother for his knew family and she’s pretty much destitute, doing her best to get by on what she can.

Elizabeth has two best friends, Suri and Cross, and one colossal crush on Hunter West, not that blame her. What I originally thought was going to be a funny love story turned into a dark decent into debauchery and murder. There’s definitely a love story in there too, but it’s so much more than that.

Elizabeth or as Hunter affectionately calls her, Libby, throws herself into a compromising situation to help a friend and what she’s selling doesn’t come cheap. Libby’s virginity is up for grabs to the highest bidder in the largest brothel in Vegas run by none other than Hunter West’s best friend Marchant.

I don’t want to ruin too much about Libby’s time at Love, Inc. but I will say her encounters there aren’t what you’d expect. With the summery of this book knowing Libby’s is auctioning off her virginity you would think it’s this hardcore smutty book, and while there are some incredibly hot scenes that absolutely had me fanning myself, there’s an actual god honest plot building and it’s a good one.

I felt like I was watching a soap opera play out in my head while I read. Each chapter is filled with more clues and more questions. I love how James alternates between Libby and Hunter’s POV’s because it makes it so much easier to understand what’s going on, on each side of the equation. It also helps us get to know Hunter a little better since he’s so monosyllabic, but I like that about him.

I also really love how all the characters have great backstories. They’re all incredibly well developed. James did a great job creating this world they all live in. But of course my favorite part aside from the plot is Hunter and Libby. I love them to death. Selling Scarlett had me on the edge of my seat from the very beginning. It was fast paced, edgy and I would absolutely recommend this book.
