Welcome to the 4th day of our Winter in July Blog Hop! We’re thrilled to have you with us. Today we’re interviewing one character from each of our winter-set books. Hope you like them!
And now, the characters being interviewed are...
What was your first impression of your partner?
Jordan: That he was fucking hot! Ha! I’m not even kidding.
Colin: She was bonnie but very stubborn.
Moira: I thought he was the most amazing man I’d ever seen—until I noticed how pale he was….
Dagney: When Max’s erotic paintings arrived in my art gallery, the staff went totally, wall-climbing, jungle-monkey wild. It wasn’t so much the subject matter of the work, but the incredibly carnal vibe they gave off. Had to meet the artist in the, er, flesh, so to speak.
Jeff: I found her naked in my hot tub. It didn’t take long for the sexual attraction to kick in. After we talked a bit, I thought she was spunky and warm and passionate, so opposite my ex-wife the ice queen.
Cara: When I first met Anthony, I thought he seemed like one of those guys who likes to pull pranks and mess with people. Something about the way his eyes sparkled or how he was always smiling. As I got to know him better, I discovered that he was is one of the most honest and genuine people around.
Tell us, in one sentence, about yourself.
Jordan: I can be a procrastinator and a Grinch, but I do love a strong drink and a sexy man.
Colin: I am very focused and determined but Joanna’s teaching me how to loosen up a bit.
Moira: I am a biochemist who works from sun-up to sundown (which is okay, because I’m Irish, so the sun and I are not on the best of terms), and I live with my best friend and foster sister, who’s one of the best artists in Albany.
Dagney: I’m a succubus.
Jeff: I’m a former custom home builder who made a fortunate investment in social media and I’m recently divorced.
Cara: Shy girls with big dreams and a lot of scars.
What is your biggest conflict in your story?
Jordan: I have to get past my own cynicism to be able to recognize something truly wonderful
Colin: When I get something on my mind it becomes the only thing on my mind. And I think that I have to take care of everything on me own.
Moira: That’s easy. Vampires ruined my life when I was a child. I trusted Madame Eve not to set me up with one, and what does she do? She sets me up with not just any vampire but the vampire who was there when my parents died. Needless to say, that was a little awkward.
Dagney: Like I said. I’m a succubus. So casual sex wasn’t exactly unknown to me. But I yearned for something…more. Not so much more I’d be burned to a crisp, though. (Max occasionally forgets himself.) Jeff: Well there’s two that are related. Letting go of the past (my ex) and whether or not to turn Tiffany in to the police. But I’ll let you in on a little secret – I had no intentions of turning her in! The second I saw her, I knew I wanted her to myself.
Cara: I lost a previous lover after I was injured in a car accident. It makes trusting people really hard. Anthony was easy for me to start trusting, but then things got weird…it might not be the right time for me to falling for someone.
What is your favorite winter memory?
Jordan: Christmas mornings with my family, playing in the snow with my sister and then going inside for hot chocolate and peppermint treats.
Colin: First Footing and Hogmanay celebrations in my hometown of Thurso. Lots of lads eating, drinking, laughing, and causing as much trouble as we could.
Moira: Probably the first time I saw The Nutcracker. It was my first Christmas with Foster Family Number One, and they had a lot of trouble getting me out of my shell. Tandy was the only person I’d talk to, and even then it was a few words at a time. They thought I’d like the music and the colors. I fell in love with the Sugarplum Fairy. She was so beautiful and graceful. Since then, Tandy started calling me sugarplum, and slowly, but surely, I opened up.
Dagney: Valentine’s Day!
Jeff: That first winter in my custom home. Settling in, listening to the roof timbers settle. You know, as a home builder I’ve always got an ear to the wood and I’m always looking for ways to make improvements or solve issues before they become problems.
Cara: My ménage with Anthony and Devon is certainly a contender in this category.
What ultimately drew you to your partner?
Jordan: Nate is everything I’m not – open, witty, a little bit dangerous. He also has faith in love and magic and that’s a very special thing
Colin: Joanna doesn’t take anything for granted. She searches for the good in everything and everyone. I’ve spent all my life focused on my own goals and I’ve missed so much because of that. I find her and her attitude fascinating.
Moira: Besides the fact that he’s gorgeous? I’ve lived in multiple foster families, and over the years, I’ve figured out who I can trust and who I can’t. With Kiernan, it was a no-brainer, our past notwithstanding.Dagney: Max is a bad boy fire-sex demon. But he’s got a protective streak I love, and he’s vulnerable in ways that are completely endearing. (But don’t tell him I said that.) And…I think I mentioned his sizzling paintings? He’s an artistic genius!
Jeff: Her sassy attitude and her sexual openness. Also, her love of houses – especially my house – went straight to my heart.
Cara: The way he looks at me. Like he can’t see any of the flaws everyone else can.
What do you do for fun?
Jordan: I’m a romance novel junkie! I love to read.
Colin: Watch football matches.
Moira: I’m guessing playing with chemicals all day doesn’t count…. I’m a homebody, so usually curling up with a good book is my idea of a good time.
Dagney: With or without Max? Before I met him, I liked to visit ice wine festivals in upstate New York. After…aside from tangling the sheets…I kinda like posing for my man. Jeff: I talk to other builders and suppliers. I keep in touch with the business and like to keep my hands on the wood.
Cara: I love movies. Mostly ones from the 80s like Breakfast Club and Pretty in Pink. I love the way those end.
What is your favorite part of your story?
Jordan: Well… *Blushes* Let me just say that there are lots of really excellent parts in the story.
Colin: I love seeing Joanna’s eyes light up over the Hogmanay events...and our own celebrations in the hotel room.
Moira: Reuniting with Kiernan after a year apart. It’d been the worst year of my life, and getting back to him made all of that melt away.
Dagney: Oh! Well, aside from the HOT stuff…I do like a man who can sweetly grovel if he’s made you cry.
Jeff: I like the fact Tiffany took one look at my ex-wife’s Click-It Jewelry and left it right there on the bed. I knew she was a smart thief from that moment on. I just didn’t figure she’d want to stick around long enough to steal my heart. I’m glad she did.
Cara: That’s a tough one. I think my favorite part might be the ending.
