Do you recall how your interest in writing originated or did you always just know you wanted to be a writer?

I think it was when I was reviewing. I realized that I could write as well as review.

What inspired Change of Address?

I had come up with the premise of what would happen if two people received identical wills leaving them each the same house. Each will is signed and dated for the same days, but two different lawyers, both swearing they are authentic. Who has the genuine will and who has the fake?

Do you recall how your interest in writing originated or did you always just know you wanted to be a writer?

It was my mother’s undoing. I used to lie to her ridiculously when I was six and seven. For my punishment, after my whipping, she would have me write the lie down. I found that the lies sounded so much better written out and I could add so much depth to them. My pain became my pleasure and I’ve been a writer ever since.

What inspires most of your novels?

Actual real life incidents or situations I hear or read about. Detroit, where most of my stories take place, is a very interesting place where a fiction writer just couldn’t make this stuff up, I swear.

Is there anything you found particularly challenging when you were writing Love 101?

Do you recall how your interest in writing originated or did you always just know you wanted to be a writer?

From the moment, I read my first book; (around age 6) I knew that someday I would write. There was something about the mental images created by a writer’s words that were highly addictive.

What inspires most of your short stories?

Author Spotlight: Amelia Atwater-Rhodes

Today I'm pleased to welcome author Amelia Atwater-Rhodes to Pink Fluffy Hearts to talk a little bit about her novels and being a writer.

What was the plot of your very first piece of unpublished fiction you ever wrote?

The very first piece I recall physically writing was a story of intergalactic cats. I was hand-writing it in a pink diary with a heart-shaped lock, which a well-intended relative gave me for a birthday or Christmas when I was five. I know I thought it was awesome at the time, but I wasn’t enough of a prodigy for my five-year-old self to write very well.

What was the plot of your very first piece of unpublished fiction you ever wrote?

Inescapable was my first real attempt at writing. I never thought I'd be an author. I still can't believe that I have actually done it. I read a lot of books and when those books end, the stories don't end for me. I find myself still living in the world the author created.

For example, when I read The Outsiders, I found myself still hanging out with Ponyboy in my mind after reading the last page. Maybe he'd head to the DX and he'd see Cherry Valance there and she'd fall in love with him, because he needed that—he needed someone to love him. I think I have always done that. I always continue to write the story in my mind where the author leaves off.

What was the plot of your very first piece of unpublished fiction you ever wrote?

I actually still want to write this book. It was called Breaking Up with Jason and was about a crazy girl who broke up with her boyfriend in his high school yearbook. It was fun to write, and I’d love to go back some day and rework it.

What was the plot of your very first piece of unpublished fiction you ever wrote?

LOL Oh GEEZ! That’s a terrible question. My first full length novel was dreadful. It was about a man who fell in love with a waitress, but was being stalked by his former girlfriend (a schizophrenic killer).

It was awful, but it was my first attempt at writing professionally and it was what started me writing. So even though it was the worst book EVER, I’m glad I wrote it. It inspired me to always keep learning and working on my craft.

When Toni, Joseph and Charlie arrive at their new boarding school, they are glad to leave their families - and respective problems - behind. Isolated as boarders, they meet a handsome senior with a personality like iced snake's blood, teachers with a penchant for physical punishment, and four other outcasts who reveal that their being brought to the Academy wasn't random at all.

When the arrivals discover that their new school is engaged in "behavior modification" through electric shocks, isolation, restraints, and an ever-evolving set of methods to "fix" them, they declare war on their Academy. During their campaign of sabotage, they fight, hate, scorn, love, and begin to uncover the reasons why they were brought to the school.

But as their war against the school escalates beyond their control, will they become the very things the Academy believes they are: dangerous, delinquent - and mad?

Oh wow, I don’t even know. Probably something about teenagers with super powers, doing the sorts of things you would expect teens with super powers to do.
