My TV Corner

Hi all, allow me to introduce myself I'm Jessica and I'm a TV addict. There I've said it out loud now lets discuss my favorite shows this week!

Sunday's

Once Upon A Time - ABC 8/9c

On Once Upon A Time  Emma asked Hooked out and he became Captain Hand... yeah anyone else immediately know that wouldn't turn out well? Mr. Gold is seriously testing the concept that true love conquers all and I'm hoping for a Mickey Mouse cameo.  As for Elsa, how adorable were she and Charming bonding over their shared overprotective natures. But, I think its clear that the Snow Queen is behind whatever happened to Anna. Oh... and lest we forget Regina, have a little faith my queen for Robin Hood loves you and tampering with the book will no doubt lead to a serious mess.

Resurrection - ABC 9/8c

Michelle Fairley as Margaret Langston is riveting, a force to be reckoned with, this is not the type of momma you want to mess with. I've always found flashbacks to be hit or miss but in this case Resurrection is bringing the back to the best effect, see what i did there.

Bellamy is on the case himself now more there ever since discovery his own resurrection.  My theory... he's way more connected than we've even begun to know.

13 Days of Halloween: Melissa's 5 Fav Supernatural Guys

With Halloween quickly approaching, there's a lot of focus on our favorite supernatural shows and movies. What is Halloween after all without a healthy dose of vampires, werewolves, witches and wizards? So on that note, I've decided to do a top five list of my favorite supernatural boys from throughout the years (and the ranking is only partly based on looks!).

1. Spike (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) -  No matter how many years go by, Spike will probably always be my favorite vampire. He just had it all - looks, sass, and a certain evil swagger that made me love him from an early age. Not to mention the fact that he first appears in season two of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and that is still one of my favorite TV seasons of any show ever.
2. Damon (The Vampire Diaries) - Let's just pause here for a moment and take a minute to think about and appreciate Ian Somerhalder's pretty pretty blue eyes. ... Alright, moving on. Damon may be the "bad" Salvatore brother, but no matter how many wives he's killed in the past or how many times he relapses, I just can't help but continue to root for him. Not only is he beautiful, but he has a certain style that can't be denied. Damon has learned to own his vampire life, and goes about everything with a certain devil may care attitude and a quick wit.

Excerpt:

Guilt punched my chest. Maybe I’d been disloyal. My fingers brushed back Lindy’s hair.

She was too difficult, too angry, too judgmental, too everything. That was why I’d given up on her. But she’d been dating Jason for years, and in all those years we’d been friends too. We’d gone to college together.

Jason talked on his cell, walking a few feet away. I guess he’d told Rachel we’d found Lindy.

Tonight had been about a new start, drawing a line on the past, so Jason and I could move on, but we couldn’t when Lindy was like this. A siren screamed in the distance. It got closer. Shit. I stood up. Jason looked at me and said something to end his call, then slipped his cell back in his pocket.

The cop car sped up Main Street. Its wheels screeched when it pulled up on the parking lot. Great. Her dad was angry.

Melanie is a very special girl.

SPOILER ALERT: This is a book about Zombies. The world as we know it has died, and society has collapsed. Nature decided to fight back and infected the human race with a contagious fungi that makes people hungry for human flesh. The remaining survivors scramble for a cure, knowing time is running out. In addition to the survivors there are some very special children, like Melanie, who were born into a world of chaos and have to find out where they fit into the new world.

I loved Melanie's character. Her narration was what made this book for me. She was an endearing girl who had to face truths about herself that could have been hard to accept by some. She faced such harsh treatments from the people surrounding her because of what she was. Her inner conflicts, and how she dealt with them, and how she questioned them, made me care for her so much despite her being truly something else. There are several other POVs in this book and they really help to expand on the world building.

13 Days of Halloween: Five Fun Flicks

When people think of Halloween movies, their minds automatically go to the scary. They marathon classic horror movies with Freddy and Jason, or get their fills with creepy ghosts in the dark. However, I am a firm believer that there's another option for Halloween - the fun flick. Instead of watching some freaky horror movie in the dark, how about watching something campy in the light? Halloween isn't just about the scary, there's fun to be had as well! On one hand, this season offers us haunted houses and ghost stories, but there's also dressing up in costumes with your friends and eating obscene amounts of candy. Why not have some fun Halloween movies to go along with the festivities? So throw a party and put on one of my five favorite fun flicks (I'm really into alliteration today, apparently) in the background, or even create a drinking game to go along with them (if you are of age, that is). All that matters is that you have fun and enjoy this Halloween weekend!

1. Halloweentown - Marnie, Dylan, and Sophie Piper have their first out of many adventures! On Halloween, while Marnie is arguing with her mother Gwen, the kids' grandmother Aggie comes to visit. Aggie wants to start Marnie's witch training before her 13th birthday or Marnie will lose her powers forever. But there is another reason for Aggie's visit. Something dark & evil is growing in Halloweentown & Aggie wants help to defeat it. While Aggie & Gwen are arguing, Aggie uses magic which Marnie observes. After Aggie leaves to return to Halloweentown, Marnie, Dylan and, unknown to Marnie and Dylan, Sophie follow her onto the return bus. Soon afterwards, Gwen follows the children to Halloweentown. While there, Aggie & Gwen are attacked by the dark force in a movie theater. Marnie, Dylan & Sophie race to get the ingredients to activate Merlin's Wand to stop the evil.
