Book Description:

Charlie is a passionate, sensually-inspired art student, desperately seeking an escape from the abusive past that haunts her and a tragic accident that emptied her heart. Scarred and unable to love, her yearning for physical pleasure leads her into a tantalizing, dangerous world of power and seduction.

The anonymity of the deal offers security; the money brings financial freedom and the madam is the mother figure she longs for.

But the thrill of the mansion and its arousing dominance quickly fades when she meets renowned-yet-mysterious Cameron Hardy, whose intense baby blue eyes send a nervous flutter through her core. Cameron is sexy, and not in a subtle way. He stimulates Charlie’s art, her intellect and her desires. Just as he begins to break through her emotional boundaries, she discovers a devastating connection between her past and her scandalous work at the mansion, shattering everything she thought to be true.

Provocative, intoxicating and erotic, Seductive Shadows is the unforgettable tale of a young woman’s self-discovery as she learns to forgive, to love and be loved, and to find redemption amidst a remarkable journey that will captivate your mind and stimulate your soul.

Do you recall how your interest in writing originated or did you always just know you wanted to be a writer?

I’ve been writing my whole life…well, at least since I was old enough to hold a pen. It’s really when I feel my most comfortable, when I’m able to drop my inhibitions, and reveal the darkness that lives inside.

What inspired Seductive Shadows?

I was watching TV one day and Eyes Wide Shut happened to come on. I was inspired by the masks they wore in that movie and everything else - the plot, the arc, the twists - just fell into place.

Which came first for you, the characters or the plot?

The characters always come first.

Is there anything you found particularly challenging when you were writing Seductive Shadows?

Charlie had an ugly, gritty childhood. She was raised by a single parent who was an alcoholic, drug addict, and she verbally and physically abused Charlie. When creating Charlie, I took on her pain, her scars, her memories, and it was an emotional and challenging process.

If you could be one of your characters from any of your books, who would you chose? Why?

All of my protagonists are extremely broken and they all have painful pasts. I can’t say I’d ever want to take on those emotions, but Charlie is adventurous, creative, determined, confident in her skin without being arrogant, and I appreciate those traits.

When writing Seductive Shadows, was there anyone or anything specific that inspired the character Charlie?

I can’t say anyone directly inspired Charlie’s choices, actions, or employment, but her personality is definitely a mix of several women I know.

In your opinion what three words best describe Charlie? How about Cameron?

Charlie: Sensual, damaged, resolute.

Cameron: Scarred, artistic, sexy.

Quickies:

Coffee or Tea?

Coffee.

Milk chocolate or Dark?

Milk chocolate.

Favorite novel and why?

I can’t say I have a favorite novel (I probably have hundreds of favorites), but I recently read Little Bee and Sarah’s Key and those books rocked my whole world. When a book yanks out one of my emotions - sobbing sadness, anger, happiness - and it’s well written, it immediately gets added to my bragging list.

Hard copy books or e-books? Why?

eBooks because they’re much lighter and I can carry around more than one at a time.

What kind of weather do you write best in?

Mid-70’s is perfect, which is one of the many reasons why I love living in Florida.

Favorite author and why?

Stephen King because we’re from the same hometown and he’s just so badass.

If you could turn one book or series into films, what would you pick and who would you cast as the main characters?

Beautiful Disaster would make an excellent movie. Jessica Lowndes would be perfect for Abby and Channing Tatum for Travis.

Oh my god, yes! I would absolutely turn that into a movie too!
