Blog Hop: 4th Annual Spooktacular Giveaway Hop

4th Annual Spooktacular Giveaway Hop

Hosted by
I Am A Reader, Not A Writer

October 15th - 31st

I love Halloween. It is one of my all time favorite holiday's and has been since I was little. There's just something about dressing up, giving our candy and watching scary movies that makes me giddy. When I was younger one of my best friends and I even used to have black and red parties for Halloween and Friday the 13th. Themed parties are so the best.

Blog Hop: Banned Book Week Giveaway Hop!

September 22nd - 28th

It's that time of year again where we rebel against the system and demand our book back!!! ...I'm totally being dramatic. It's banned book week and ever since 1982 the American Library Association has put together campaigns to make everyone aware of the circumstances of this form of censorship.

Some books are banned for small things like language or inappropriate themes for the age group, but other books are banned for things that are presumed to be more serious, but in all reality no one has a right to pull books from the shelves of our libraries and bookstores. If you don't like what a book is saying or what it stands for, here's a clue don't read it.

Blog Hop: Off to Oz Giveaway Hop

Off to Oz Giveaway Hop

September 10th to September

Unfortunately I have read a lot of re-tellings as of yet, but there are so many I want to read! My TBR list is full of them! The only thing I've read lately that can be classified as a re-telling or another version of a fairy tale is Snow White and the Huntsman by Lily Blake, which I thought was great and Persephone by Kaitlin Bevis, which was amazing.

Excerpt:

I turned when I heard some loud whistling. “Delta Mu’s looking hot!”

“Be nice, boys!” Jana yelled at a group of guys walking by. They were all huge—as in giant-muscles-I-wouldn’t-want-to-meet-you-in-a-dark-alley huge.

One guy yelled back, “We are being nice. See you in a few.”

Excerpt:

Determined not to let my dream shake me up any more than it already had, I focused on driving my new car. It was silver with a sunroof. I’d always wanted a sunroof. I turned on the stereo to a low volume and let the music calm my nerves.

After pulling out of my driveway, I started to get impatient. The whole intersection was a mess and the way to Halle’s was backed up. Every car was moving at a snail’s pace, but I couldn’t quite see what was up ahead.

Blog Hop: Stop Human Trafficking Donation Hop

Stop Human Trafficking Donation Hop

Hosted by Pink Fluffy Hearts and Heather Huffman

May 1st to 22nd

Human trafficking is all around us and there aren't nearly enough law enforcement agencies equipped to deal with it. The worst part is these people have infiltrated the internet and social networking websites. Do you know how scary that is? Basically everything we do today is digital and to think kids aren't safe using the internet is troubling.

So, we have partnered with Heather Huffman to host this Donation Hop to raise money and awareness for Project Liberty, an organization helping to fight human trafficking.

Blog Hop: Titanic Giveaway Hop

Titanic Giveaway Hop
&

April 8th to 14th

I've read a lot of stories with epic love, not too many with tragic endings because I like me a happy ending, but recently I think the story I've read that has had the most palpable connection between two characters was Sofia and Derek from A Shade of Vampire by Bella Forrest. There is just something about the two of them, despite the situation they are in that shows how much they compliment each other.

For those of you who don't like paranormal stories another book that I love that's got a little bit of tragedy mixed with some epic lovin' is Veer by Alyssa Rose Ivy. I loved it almost as much as I loved Derailed. So, enter below to win one of these two books and check out the rest of the hop!

Why We are Doing This

I recently read Devil in Disguise by Heather Huffman. It's a great read; if you haven't already read it I'd urge you to check it out, and her book opened my eyes to a problem I didn't even realize we had in the United States: human trafficking. I know what it is and I've heard of it happening around the world, but never here and just the thought makes me sick to my stomach.

Blog Hop: 2nd Annual Kick Butt Characters Hop

2nd Annual Kick Butt Characters Hop
Hosted by
Good Choice Reading
&
I Am A Reader, Not A Writer

March 23rd - 28th

When I think kick butt character's my mind automatically drifts to Buffy the Vampire Slayer, yes, I'm one of those girls. I loved Buffy to death, but since we're featuring books here I think I've gotta say that the most kick butt character I've read in a while is Katniss Everdeen from The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins.

Not only did she take her sister's place, but she stood up against the other kids and she's just awesome, the end haha. Honestly though, Suzanne Collins did a really great job developing Katniss. She's strong, brave, not afraid to be vulnerable and she is an incredibly likable character.

Blog Hop: 2013 Spring Cleaning Giveaway Hop

2nd Annual Spring Cleaning Giveaway Hop
It's time for some spring cleaning!
March 20th - 25th

Hey all! So, it's funny because I went through all of my books for this hop and every time I thought I found one to add to the Spring Cleaning pile I realized I liked the book too much to get rid of it. I totally planned on giving away a box of books at least five of them, but apparently my inner child (the one that still wishes it was an only child) doesn't feel like sharing.

Blog Hop: 3rd Annual Lucky Leprechaun Giveaway Hop

3rd Annual
 Lucky Leprechaun Giveaway Hop

Co-hosted by Books Complete Me & Author Cindy Thomas

March 15th - 22nd

Yay!

Another giveaway haha. I've been giving away so many paranormal books lately that I thought a little change of pace might be nice. One of my favorite books is Derailed by Alyssa Rose Ivy. Her writing is amazing and it's hard not to fall in love with her characters. She has a whole Clayton Falls series and this is the first book set in that world. So whoever wins, enjoy it! :)

Blog Hop: Lunar Love Giveaway Hop

2nd Annual Lunar Love Giveaway Hop

Hosted by I Am A Reader, Not A Writer & Bookworm Lisa

March 8th to 13th

As I was getting ready to set up this post just now, I realized I don't think I've ever read any books with werewolves in them and when I think Lunar, I think werewolf. Haha But I've decided to give away Angel related books, plus one book that I just really love. One winner will get all four eBooks below. Enjoy the hop!
