Book Description:

"Carrie and Sara Fleming are as different as two sisters can be. Both in high school, Carrie is an outgoing soccer jock, trying to navigate the minefield of Varsity sports –and dating. Sara is a talented musician, who wants to spend her senior year focusing on graduating and getting into a great music school. Both of their lives change forever when Sara inadvertently finds herself engaged to marry Lucien Gargouille, prince of an ancient race of gargoyles. Sara has no interest in marrying anyone, but a vow spoken in the moonlight has bound her to Luc – forever. To make matters worse, there is a war brewing. For centuries, the gargoyles have protected mankind from all the dark forces in the world. But someone is making trouble, and trying to break the fragile treaty that has kept evil at bay, and Sara has become a target. Carrie sees the danger around her sister, but can only watch and wait, hoping that Luc and his Family can keep Sara safe. After all, this is what they were born to do – protect the world from vampires, and all the other creatures, who would try to break out of their darkness. But when the enemy makes a daring move, it falls on Carrie to not only save her sister, but to keep the two worlds from crashing together."

♥ ♥ ♥

Where did the idea to use gargoyles as the supernatural element come from?

I wish I could tell you an amazing story about how a vision of gargoyles came to me in a dream, but the reality is that I wanted a creature that WAS NOT a vampire, werewolf, wizard, fairy, angel, or demon. Those had all been done – to death. And I had this cute stone gargoyle in my garden. Most important, when I tried to look up the history of the gargoyle, there was very little beyond the original legend of the Bishop of Rouen, which meant I could make up anything I wanted to – or needed for the story - without offending any established mythology.

Which came first for you- the characters or the plot?

Plot. Story always comes first, and I have to get at least a solid beginning in my head before I decide what kinds of characters I’ll be writing about.

What made you decide to tell the story between both Carrie and Sara's Point of Views? And while writing, did you find yourself drawn more into one girl's mind over the other's?

Wes Elliott just met his match…and she might actually burn his entire world down.

Surfing and sex. This is Wes Elliott's life. And it's just the way he likes it. ` After seeing his parents stay in a loveless marriage his entire life, and burying away a heartbreak from his past, he knows where romance is best left: crappy chick movies. He'd rather lust and eventually leave, and that's exactly what the plan was when he met Lana Langston.

Except…turns out she’s only in it for the thrills, too. She's always only in it for the thrills: life in the literal fast lane on her motorcycle, and the hot nights in forbidden places without the awkward talks in the mornings after. She's Wes Elliott in way tighter jeans.

So, this should be perfect, right?

But the more time Wes spends with her, the more he wants the nights to turn into mornings. And maybe even longer. Suddenly, it isn't so perfect for him anymore. And the things he thought were buried are digging themselves up.

Now Wes is in a lot of trouble.

He’s falling in love with the one girl who might be a bigger risk than even a guy who gets barreled by the most dangerous waves in the world is willing to take on.

Can Wes and Lana figure out a way to make it work? Or is he headed for something far more reckless?

Do you recall how your interest in writing originated or did you always just know you wanted to be a writer?

When I was just a kid, about 7 or 8, my dad took me to the movies to see "The Karate Kid" I remember then having the first taste of what storytelling was about. I remember thinking about how awesome it would be to be the one who gets to decide what happens to "Daniel San" the main character. I remember feeling the urge, as if I was bitten by "the writing vampire", to go home and write! I´ve been writing ever since.

I don't think I could say exactly when... I just always had a affinity for writing. I'd write in a diary faithfully through highschool. I liked essays and reports more than the average student. I liked making up stories about the books I read, even before I knew what fanfiction was.

As their relationship grows more intense, Colby finds that Jason isn’t as easy to leave behind as she thought. Could turning up the heat on something real be worth the possibility of getting burned?

I’ve always been a storyteller in some form. I have a CRAZY imagination, and when I was younger, it took the form of me crafting stories involving characters from my favorite shows or boy bands (ahem New Kids on The Block) falling in love with me. Like I said, I had a crazy imagination. And perhaps a slightly sad one LOL.

Then, around seventh grade, my honors Language Arts teacher encouraged creative writing in class, and I think that’s when I wrote my first real stories. In high school, I mainly wrote poetry—most of it extremely bad—and then in college, I picked it back up with writing fan fiction for Guiding Light.

Clicks – When you just know.

Born and bred to win, Cami’s family expects her to join a secret society called The Guard, marry one of the two identical twin boys next door, and stay on Pinhold Island for the rest of her life. But she has other plans: work beach patrol, win the Surf Carnival and get a sponsor so that she can leave Pinhold to compete in international surf rescue competitions and see the world.

Home to epic waves, black sand beaches, and the world-famous Surf Carnival, Pinhold Island is regularly voted the top surf spot in the country. People come from all over the world to ride the waves or just relax in the natural beauty and rejuvenating water. While visitors are jealous of the few hundred people who get to live there, sixteen year old Cami feels stifled and trapped by her small community and her family's expectations. Thanks to the intense link she shares with her twin brother Mica, she can't even be alone with her thoughts. As decedents of the ten families who originally settled on Pinhold, Cami and Mica are part of a new generation of extreme surf lifeguards who are expected to earn invitations into The Guard.

But a seemingly small injury knocks her out of the first event and turns her summer upside down. It's suddenly impossible for Cami to resist the magnetic attraction to Blake, one of the twins next door; the one she's never been interested in. Just as the Surf Carnival competition starts to heat up, the best swimmers start to drown. Pulled to the ocean floor, they're found barely alive , stuck in unexplainable comas. When Mica goes down too, Cami can no longer wait for those in charge to figure out how to help him. To save the lives of her brother and their friends, Cami must ignore what she sees and what she's told, and instead must learn to trust the clicks, her instincts, that help her find the truth in heart even when it goes against everything her brain thinks it knows.

Do you recall how your interest in writing originated or did you always just know you wanted to be a writer?

I always knew but I definitely forgot for a while. When I was little I wrote all the time for fun, and it was always a special skill, but I'd convinced myself that I wanted to be on the business side of the entertainment industry so I moved to LA and worked at a talent agency. It was a very big aha moment when I realized I wanted to be talent not management, but since then I haven't looked back.

What inspired Clicks?

Like so many people, I loved Katniss Everdeen's character - she was so strong and taught to rely on her instincts. But I didn't like that she had to do all that because she lived in this horrible world. I wanted to create a heroine who had very little reason to develop that kind of strength and the ability to trust her gut because I think we all need to do it.

It's a skill that's ignored in our society, and it's ignored on Pinhold as well because everyone is so comfortable there. It's is the most perfect example on earth of the balance of nature and time, but it's beauty hides danger, and it's fragile balance can be disrupted easily if those who are supposed to take care of it can't pay attention to the signs.

Do you recall how your interest in writing originated or did you always just know you wanted to be a writer?

For most of my career, I was working in banks. Apart from the emails I sent home about my disastrous travelling adventures, I didn't write at all. I didn't even read that much. To this day, I do not know why I suddenly had this urge to write and write this story. I was in London, working for a bank and made this decision one day.

I made my notes while travelling through Mexico and Cuba and then came back, jobless and began writing. The learning curve went on from there! Now it's like I've opened a Pandora's box with ideas coming to me in the middle of the night or while watching a play or TV show. I can't keep up with them all!

Do you recall how your interest in writing originated or did you always just know you wanted to be a writer?

I think I first started dreaming of being a writer in the 9th grade, though I was writing stories and poems in elementary school as well. In high school, it became quite a pastime. I needed an outlet for my feelings and imagination.

What inspired The Watcher?

The Watcher was inspired by many ideas: the extent of human potential, the soul’s journey through this lifetime and others, how the past keeps repeating itself until we learn to change it, and the idea of good versus evil and how everyone plays a part in that. While this book is a love story with angels and demons in it, I also wanted to touch on human potential, on forgiveness, and how we conduct ourselves in this lifetime.

Do you recall how your interest in writing originated or did you always just know you wanted to be a writer?

I was born to write…I just didn’t realize it until my early twenties. I mean, I wrote almost every day, even as a very little girl but I never considered myself a writer. I would keep journal upon journal upon journal on subjects of nothing, poetry, random stories that struck my imagination and I felt were worthy enough to jot down. I did this for years and years before recognizing that I might actually have a future in it. I tucked all these journals away for a few years, went to school and became a copywriter. I continued to write every day but I wrote things I didn’t care for, for people I didn’t care for. One day I woke up and asked myself what I was doing. I’ve never looked back.

Do you recall how your interest in writing originated or did you always just know you wanted to be a writer?

The first time I dabbled in writing was during my High School years, when I was a fan girl for the then popular boy group. My fantasies were overflowing, and I wanted to share them with my girlfriends, so I started to write them down. It was mostly for fun and only lasted a few months.

The second time I picked up a pen to write a story was during my college years to escape my stress. Again, nothing had happened since I had an English teacher that was not the greatest motivator around, and I was naive enough to believe everything he said. But it seems that my overactive imagination would not be denied.

Abeni: The Exemeus is about a boy, Dephon, who realizes that the government wants to kill him and the only person who can help him, Hyalee, is dead. The book is told from two different points of view, so you get to know a lot about both characters.

Do you recall how your interest in writing originated or did you always just know you wanted to be a writer?

I was very young when it happened, probably about 6. I know it was the first grade and I had my first creative writing assignment. It was the most fun I had ever had! I pretty much never turned back after that. If anyone is curious it was a story about a lion escaping the zoo and the zoo keeper who had to find him.

What inspired Glistening Haven?

I was writing a rough draft for my YA series The Dream Slayer when I wondered what would happen if humans and vampires were forced to live together. What if vampires had been caught and they started to reform, maybe developed a conscience. I didn't want to write another vampire series so I started playing with ideas and concepts that could basically be a blood sucking feign of another kind. And that's pretty much how the concept was born.
